Christine is divorcing me. She decided this a couple weekends ago. Details are changing as I go. Because of this, I have decided not to run the marathon in April.
There is a Kansas City marathon in Oct. I plan on running in it. The good side of that is I have a friend that is running in it too. We will be able to train together.

My running was actually going very well up until last weekend. I had been following the schedule pretty well. Something has come up that will most likely can my marathon plans. Most likely I'll just run one in Kansas in Oct. More details on the something later. I have not ran since Sunday.
At my aunt-in-law's house in Bowling Green. I ran around her neighborhood for 30 minutes tonight. We head home in the morning. I felt a little slugginsh. Sometimes I wonder if I can make but then I remember I am still at the bottom and have to work up.
Yesterday was pretty much a repeat of Monday. This time I really didn't feel like running but I have to bust through things like that. If I give in to that attitude now, I'll never make it when the running gets tough.
I ran for 31 minutes around my mother-in-law's neighborhood yesterday. Weather was still good. It was a good run.
At Dick's Sporting Goods I bought some running socks and a water bottle belt. The socks helped protect my toes and vent real well. I got the water bottle belt so I don't have to worry about water when I do my long runs.
I did scout out the marathon course in Cherokee park. It was the area I figured it was. The road that leads up to the fountain. Not a nice hill.
I have a friend that may run in the race with me. He is planning on running the mini-marathon. Both races start at the same time, they just split up at one point.

I forgot to post that I ran for 30 minutes on Friday and Saturday. I'm in Louisville at my mother-in-law's house. I ran outside around the neighborhood. It was too nice and warm outside to be inside on a treadmill.
I'm in Harlan, Kentucky. I ran for 30 minutes today on a running track that goes around a small park near my father-in-law's house. It was a good run. My pace was off and near the end I started hurting a little. I'm going to stick to the tread mill at my mother-in-law's house for the rest of the time I'm visiting. I'm going to move tommorows run to Friday. Saturday I'm going to try and scout some of the race course that goes through Cherokee park. I want to see how hilly it actualy is.
I am in Louisville right now. We are heading to Harlan to spend Christmas with Christine's family. I ran for 30 minutes on my mother-in-law's treadmill yesterday. My calves are killing me from running those stairs on Sunday.
Thursday I ran on a treadmill for 30 minutes. Today I ran at home. Up and down the stairs for 15 minutes. I bought a heart monitor watch to track my heart rate as a run. Heading home for the holidays tommorow. need to still find time to run during the trip.
Tonight it was about 17 degrees out and there was about a half inch of snow on the ground. I have no idea what the wind chill was. And there was a light mist. The gym was closed because of the early work release due to the weather. The smart thing would have been to either skip running or find soemthing else. Like run up and down the stairs at home. I'm not known for being smart. I ran outside. The only part of me that got cold were my lips. My glasses were fogging up real bad and the snow was hiding the running trail at times. It was a good run. It was really peaceful out there. It was neat marking up the fresh snow and then seeing my tracks on the next lap. I ran my full 30 minutes. I am pretty sure this is not the last of the bad weather. I can do a 30 minute run but not sure if I can do 5 or even 8 miles in weather like that. I guess I need to find some sort of back up plan. No way I'm going to run 8 miles on a treadmill. I think my limit will be 6 miles on a treadmill. Thats an hour or so. I'll have to just wait and see.
It is very cold out. I would have ran outside but everything was too icy. So I ran on a treadmill at the gym for 30 minutes. I had an MP3 player this time so it wasn't too boring.
Last Tuesday I ran on a treadmill for 30 minutes. I hate treadmills. Boring. Thursday I ran for 30 minutes outside. I was going to run for about 15 minutes on Saturday, but that never happened. I was going to move it to Sunday but 60 degreee weather turning into an ice storm in no time. So I skipped it. Thats ok for now. I plan on running next coming Saturday.
I was tired as hell but still ran for 30 minutes. The weather was pretty nice though. This week I will add day 4. It will be short at first and will eventually increase to 30 minutes. The goal is to run 30 minutes four days a week for two weeks.
I had a stay dog encounter. Made me kinda nervous at first. It was a huskey. It didn't look mean but I couldn't trust it. It's owners were nearby but that crap annoys me. Pisses me off. If you can't control your dog, keep it on a leash. If you have trouble controling your dog while on a leash when people run by you, find somewhere else besides a running path to walk your dog.

Yesterday's run was a challange. I was really tired. Have not slept well all week. I had PT in the morning but I chose not to run. It was really cold and since i have to wear an Air Force PT uniform, it does not provide the warmth I can get from my own running stuff. I couldn't run right when I got home because Christine was singing at a choir concert. I had to wait until she got home and ran at about 9:30pm. I ran for about 32 minutes. I felt like crap, was tired and it was 27 degrees out. But I still pushed through. I was actually pretty warm. In the future I may need to throw on a sweat shirt and I may look for the googles I wore when I was in the desert. Those help keep the cold wind off my eyes. I am still very glad I bought Underarmor thermal pants and shirt.
Had Air Force PT. Ran for 30 minutes around the track. Still feeling good though. I'm afraid I might have some foot issues soon. Like bad blisters or aches. I'm going to experiment with a few things now and see how they work out. I know blisters will be normal, but when I ran 12 miles a few years ago I had a blister about the size of a half dollar and a blister under my toe nail that cause the nail to fall off. I won't be able to handle that every week. I did have really shitty shoes at the time though.
These posts my become fewer until I reach week 1 in Jan.
This may sound gross but I want to put this in here. I forgot to mention yesterday that I had my first case of "runner's nipple". That is when the friction of the shirt rubs against the nipple causing irration and sometimes bleeding. I have never had this problem before. It was only my left nipple and it didn't bleed. It hurt real bad though. I think it being really cold had soemthing to do with it. Weird though because I didn't have any issues today but I was wearing a different type of clothing. I'll probably use bandaids next time.

I ran for about 32 minutes. I ran with older shoes that are still good that have good arch support. My arches didn't hurt after I ran. I took the day off from work today because I saw GWAR last night. I still have not recovered my hearing. I'm not 19 anymore. I need to wear earplugs at the next concert I go to. Sore or not I still ran.
My first indoor soccer game of the season is tonight. I'm not going to play to hard. At least that is what I am saying now. Don't know once I get out there. My main focus will be to not get hurt, but if I get banged up a little it is ok. I am still far out enough from the start of my real training.

Happy Turkey Day!
Yes. Even on Thanksgiving I ran. Did 30 straight minutes. Didn't plan very well actually. I was going to wait until the evening until I ran but thought that wouldn't work out. So I ran in the afternoon but had corndogs for lunch because the plan hadn't been changed yet. I felt those as I ran. I am most likely going to need some different shoes. I have a high arch and need cushioned shoes. I don't think the shoes I have are good enough. I thought they were when I bought them. They also may be a little to small. When buying shoes one should get a half size bigger than normal shoes. The foot increases about a half a shoe size while running. After I ran my 30 minutes today my arches were pretty sore. I my try some inserts the cushion the arches but that may make the shoe too tight. I'll have to play around with it for now. I need to get it figured out before I hit the high mile days. I did feel good running (corndogs aside).

I ran for 25 minutes straight on Monday. Monday made me aware that I will need to be flexable if my running schedule. I was going to leave work early to run. I am allowed to if mission allows. it didn't allow so I had to run later. When the milage gets longer I will need to cut off other free time stuff and focus on running.
Tuesday I did squadron PT and ran for about 30 minutes around the base lake. I felt really good and wanted to ran an extra lap around the lake be restrained myself. Don't want to hurt myself.

For some reason I thought the training program was 17 weeks. It is actually 16 weeks. I guess I got confused because the book is 17 chapters long. I now have 24 weeks total. My actual training training won't start until Jan 5th. That is why my week count is negative right now. It won't go positive until I actually hit the marathon training.
For a few days I had been trying to decide when I would officially register for the marathon. What if I registered early and wind up not completed the training? What if I wait too long and it is sold out? So last night I said screw it and I registered. I think it will help keep me motivated. Now I am locked in and committed.
